Privacy Policy
Last updated July 15, 2026
Ribbon is a personal read-it-later service. This policy explains the information we collect, the services that process it, and the choices you have over your data.
Information we collect
We collect your name, email address, and internal account ID; URLs and content you save; newsletter emails sent to your Ribbon address; notes and highlights; Scout prompts and conversations; reading state and progress; and interaction history such as saves, opens, feed and newsletter subscriptions, narration requests, and feature use.
Ribbon does not collect your general browser history. The browser extension accesses the current tab only when you use it to save that page. The URLs you choose to save are stored as part of your library.
How we use information
We use this information only to operate Ribbon: authenticate your account, save and extract readable content, sync your library and reading state, deliver newsletters, create annotations, generate outlines, answer Scout questions, produce narration, prevent abuse, and support you.
Saved text is automatically sent through OpenRouter and its routed model providers to generate article outlines. When you use Scout or narration, the relevant saved content and your request are also sent through OpenRouter and the model provider selected for that feature.
Service providers
Render hosts Ribbon’s application, database, workers, and cache. Resend delivers sign-in email and receives newsletter email addressed to your Ribbon inbox. OpenRouter and its routed model providers process saved text for automatic outlines and, when requested, Scout and narration. These providers process data on our behalf to deliver Ribbon’s functionality.
No advertising, sale, or tracking
Ribbon does not sell personal information, use it for advertising, track you across other companies’ apps or websites, or share your reading activity for those purposes. We do not use advertising or third-party behavioral analytics.
Retention and deletion
Deleting an item removes it from your active library. You can delete your entire account in iOS Settings under Delete Account. Account deletion immediately removes your account and associated data from active systems and revokes active sessions. Raw inbound newsletter payloads and MIME data are automatically deleted within 30 days of receipt. Deleted account data is removed from backups within 30 days.
Deleting your account is also how you withdraw consent for Ribbon to store and process your data. If you cannot access the app, contact us for help.
